Course Description:
Stand- up comedy is more than joke telling. It is about the truths of human experience presented in ways that provoke shared laughter and lift our spirits. In this course you will draw from your unique perceptions, experiences, and opinions to build a character and develop memorable material. You will try out your material and practice your delivery in a supportive environment. Even if you don't plan on a career in stand-up comedy, you will benefit from learning the skills of the craft: joke structure, timing and pacing, overcoming stage fright, finding a trademark. defining an attitude, and more. Each class culminates with a showcase.

For class content, please check out the Table of Content in 'Secrets To Standup Success'. Your practice sessions and final showcase performance will be videotaped so that you can review and analyze your work.

Please bring the following to class: Writing materials, and a new VHS tape. Homework is required.
